How to Mark Dark Fabric for Sewing and Quilting

Welcome to Tuesday’s Tips from SewVeryEasy,
my name is Laura. And today I’d like to share with you a tip that was shared to me by my mother many, many years ago. And when you go to mark your dark or medium-light fabrics, I have something that will mark it very easily. And it’s guaranteed to wash out and you will never have that marking on whatever it is you mark. And the reason it’ll wash out? Because you mark it with a bar of soap. Now I collect these little bars of soap when they’ve come out of the bathroom I will snap those up and well this one here is getting a little bit small. I need to replace that one. This i have used for so many years the soap has actually turned yellow. I figured it was time for a new marking bar of soap. And if you want a nice sharp edge and you don’t want to wait till it gets to that sharp edge in the shower, use a potato peeler and just peel the soap until you get that nice sharp edge. And well this will mark almost any color fabric except white and yellow. Give it a try and let me know what you think. Thank you for joining me today onTuesday’s Tips from SewVeryEasy. Feel free to subscribe and, as always, come on back. Let’s see what we’re sewing next time in the sewing room. Bye for now.
